Concrete Cost and Basis

It is advisable to be able to find a concrete supplier that is in close proximity to you. To begin with, you don’t want to have any delays when receiving ready mix concrete, as it should be poured within 90 minutes for optimal results. Also, you will end up paying more for your concrete to account for higher transportation costs such as fuel and time. Therefore, seek out a reliable supplier that is in your region, preferably less than an hour away from your construction site. Estimating concrete prices Brisbane is not an easy task, as many factors are involved in pricing concrete. Some of the concrete prices factors include the following: grading, subbase preparation, concrete forms and finishing, reinforcement, and the local concrete prices Brisbane. If you're looking for a price per square foot, it works out to be between $3.50 and $5.50 to have plain concrete poured.
This is how to order concrete. We’ll use an example of 10 x 10 ft. slab. Here’s a brief rundown of what you need to know about concrete and concrete prices. For example, how much is a yard of concrete? Find out the cost of concrete per yard below.
The amount. Calculate and compute the volume you need in cubic yards. Multiply the length (10 ft.) by the width (10 ft.) by the depth (.35 ft., or 4 in.) and divide it by 27 (the number of cubic feet in a cubic yard). You get 1.3 cu. yds. Then add 10 percent to allow for spillage and slab depth variations to help determine the concrete cost per yard.
Strength of the concrete. Call a local ready-mix company, tell the concrete supplier what the concrete is for, and ask about the best mix. For a shed, the supplier will probably suggest a mix with a capacity of about 4,000 psi (pounds per square inch). If you live in a region with freeze/thaw cycles in winter, ask for 5 percent air entrainment to help the concrete withstand freeze or thaw damage.
Cost. Use $90 per cubic yard as a ballpark figure for concrete prices, but this will vary by region. Also, expect a fee of about $60 per load for delivery from a concrete truck for concrete cost. There could be other fees for such things as Saturday concrete truck delivery and small loads. Ask about these fees so you know the total bill before the concrete truck arrives.
Unloading time. Ask about the normal concrete truck unload time usually 7 to 10 minutes per yard and if there is a fee for overtime. If the concrete truck can’t reach the site, make sure you have two or three people with wheelbarrows ready to go.
If you only look at the concrete prices and forget reputation, then you can be in trouble later on during the build phase of construction. Always ask people around you where they got their supplies from, and always do a thorough check of the supplier’s reputation, customer complaints and feedback before you move forward. If the quality of the concrete mix is cheap and not disclosed to you from the start, the construction phase of your project will fall into many setbacks and delays. Once you’re sure that there are no negative cases or reviews against the supplier, you should move on.
